1. Outdoor unit does not come on
  • No ac power to unit:
    • Defective breaker
    • Wire burned at disconnect
    • Transfer to electrician
  • Defective contactor
  • Defective thermostat
  • Defective transformer
  • Wire burned off at contactor
2. Circuit breaker tips when unit turned on
  • Weak breaker
  • Grounded compressor
  • Condenser fan motor shorted to ground

3. Unit hums but fan does not run
